Ruth Ballard
4th Grade
Ruth grew up as a missionary kid in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, which was an incredible experience. She got her Bachelor of Arts degree in Counseling at Toccoa Falls College. She and her husband Alan have five sons and six grandchildren. Ruth has enjoyed homeschooling for the past 25 years. Trained as an Orton-Gillingham tutor at the Associate level for students with dyslexia, one of her favorite parts of homeschooling has been encouraging a love for learning and a love for reading. In addition to bolstering reading skills, Ruth has taught piano lessons at home, history, P.E. and music classes in homeschool co-ops, has led worship in multiple venues, and, along with her husband, works with college students in their church. Her goal with teaching is to make it fun, engaging, and to tell the really awesome, crazy, and wonderful stories of history and literature and see God’s hand at work through all of it.
