Do I need to purchase books and materials for my student's classes?

Yes. While most consumable supplies used on co-op days are included in the course fees, families will be provided with a booklist of required books and supplies for use at home that parents will need to acquire.

Where is Esprit located?

Esprit is graciously hosted by the dear people of Parisview Baptist Church, located at 100 Bud Street, Greenville.

How many days per week does Esprit meet?

All students attend class on Thursdays. Some Upper School classes, the pre-Algebra course, and the 5th-8th grade Life Skills class meet on Tuesdays. Consult the Upper School course page to view the schedule.

Do I have to volunteer?

All families will have volunteer days throughout the year. Volunteer tasks include assisting children in a nursery and assisting the teachers in the Lower Elementary and Primary schools, or set up / clean up tasks as available.

May I visit my child’s classroom?

Parents are always welcome at Esprit. Parents needing to visit during class hours are asked to notify and check in with the administration by text or phone call once they arrive.

Will my child have homework?

Yes. Students in the K4 - 4th grade will have some light assignments each week. Other enriching work to be done at home may be assigned but it is not required. Students in 5th-12th grade will have reasonable homework assigned for each class day at home. This work is not optional and is designed to be a part of the student’s homeschool curriculum.

Will my child receive grades?

K4-6th grade students do not receive grades but will receive feedback from teachers twice per semester.

7th-8th grade students will receive suggested grades for their assignments. Feedback and grades will be reported to parents twice per semester.

9th-12th grade students will receive grades for their assignments so that parents have the information necessary to add to a high school transcript. Feedback and grades will be reported to parents twice per semester.

Is completion of assignments from Esprit all that I need to do to homeschool?

While some of our classes are designed to be all that you need in that subject area, we do not offer a full curriculum that includes everything required by the state of South Carolina in order to homeschool. Parents must check with their accountability association for full requirements and add assignments as necessary.

Does Esprit host field trips and other events?

Esprit regularly organizes field trips for all ages, mama meetups, park days, and social events for older students in addition to our class days. Events are posted on The Dispatch (our communication hub), in our newsletters, and via texts send through GroupMe.
